Seeing a photograph in the newspaper of a female refugee wading through water in the dark impelled me to do this drawing. Where is home? is the first work I’ve done that touches on social comment and politics.

The Thames Estuary is tidal and widens, with mud flats and marshes as you approach the sea, and here it’s a haven for birds and wildlife.
